Welcome to the Society of the
Cincinnati web site. The Society of the Cincinnati is
the oldest private patriotic organization in the
United States. It was founded by the officers of the
Continental army and navy and their counterparts in
the French army and
navy who had served in the American Revolutionary War.
This unique organization is dedicated to perpetuating the memory of
the American Revolution. Each year thousands of
American and foreign visitors come to Anderson House,
the headquarters of our Society, to enjoy the mansion,
view the Society's collections, attend a concert or
conduct research in our library. In the process they
have an opportunity to learn about the Society and the
heroes who secured the independence of the United
States. |
