Volunteers

Volunteers play an important role in the life of the Society of the Cincinnati and Anderson House. From leading tours of Anderson House to researching rare materials in the library, the Society's volunteers enable the organization to accomplish more than it could without their help. The Society is seeking interested individuals to join the volunteer corps. For more information about volunteering in the museum or library, see the following descriptions.

Museum Volunteers

The majority of museum volunteers lead guided tours of Anderson House during its regular museum hours. These tours usually take 45 minutes to 1 hour. Volunteers may also take on a variety of other projects, depending on their interests and the needs of the museum. No previous experience is required, but most volunteers have an interest in fine and decorative arts, architecture or history. Fluency in a foreign language is a valued asset for leading tours, as we often have groups from embassies and other foreign associations request tours. Museum volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. There is no minimum time commitment required to volunteer.

To volunteer in the museum, or for further information, contact Caren A. Pauley by telephone at 202-785-2040 or by email at cpauley@societyofthecincinnati.org.

Please note that the museum also offers internship opportunities. Please click here for more information.

Library Volunteers

The library seeks volunteers who can contribute to daily operations by assisting with shelving, processing, research, and other essential tasks. Those with previous experience in libraries are especially welcome to apply.
