Visitation and Tours
Anderson House is open, free to the
public for guided tours, between 1:00pm to 4:00pm,
Tuesdays through Saturdays, and by special arrangement at
other times. The mansion is closed on New Year's Day,
Thanksgiving and Christmas. The mansion is also closed
during the Society of the Cincinnati's spring and fall
meetings and for some other Society events. Visitors are
encouraged to call in advance to be sure the mansion will
be open when they plan to visit.

Guided tours are free and require no appointment.
Tours begin at 1:15, 2:15, and 3:15. Please allow
one hour for the tour. Reservations for tours are not
required, except for groups of ten or more visitors.
Tours for groups and individuals with special
interests or needs can be arranged in advance. Tours
are available in some foreign languages as well as
English. Tours of Anderson House are wheelchair
accessible.
A reservation is required for groups of ten or more.
Groups are limited to forty- |

five, due to space
constraints in some rooms. Tours may be tailored
to particular interests. Groups wishing to tour
Anderson House with their own guide or lecturer must
also make a reservation. School groups are
welcome. In some cases, group tours may be scheduled
outside regular museum hours.

Tours of the current temporary exhibition by its
curator may be requested either separately or in
conjunction with tours of Anderson House. Please
allow thirty minutes for the tour and browsing.
Groups wishing to tour the exhibition with their own
lecturer must also make a reservation.

Location and Directions
Anderson House is located at 2118
Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest., between 21st and 22nd
streets in the heart of Washington's historic Dupont
Circle neighborhood, along Embassy Row.
By public transportation:
By the Metro subway
system, take the red line to the Dupont Circle station (Q
Street exit). At the top of the escalators, go left on Q
Street. In one block, turn left toward Massachusetts
Avenue. Anderson House is on the right across the
street. Metro buses D2, D4, D6, N1, N2, N3, and G2 stop
within one block of Anderson House.
From
Baltimore and points north:
Take I-95 South to I-495 West. From
I-95, take Exit 33 for Connecticut Avenue, south to Chevy
Chase. After approximately 8 miles on Connecticut Avenue,
turn right onto Florida Avenue. Immediately after
crossing Massachusetts Avenue, turn left onto Q Street.
At the next light, turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue.
Anderson House is on the right in this block.
From Annapolis and points east:
Take Route 50 West into Washington, D.C., where it
becomes New York Avenue. At Mount Vernon Square near the
Washington Convention Center, bear slightly right onto
Massachusetts Avenue. Continue on Massachusetts Avenue
through Thomas, Scott, and Dupont circles. Anderson House
is just past 21st Street on the left.
From
Arlington and points west:
Take Route 50 or I-66 to the
Roosevelt Bridge. Take the E Street exit (a left exit).
Stay on E Street through a tunnel. Immediately after the
turn, turn left onto 20th Street. Turn left onto
Massachusetts Avenue. Anderson House is just past 21st
Street on the left.
From
Richmond and points south:
Take I-95 North to I-395 North.
Continue on I-395 until it turns into the 14th Street
Bridge. Continue over the bridge until you can turn left
onto I (Eye) Street. Turn right onto 20th Street. Turn
left onto Massachusetts Avenue. Anderson House is just
past 21st Street on the left.
Parking:
On-street parking is limited. There are a number
of hotels less than two blocks away with parking garages
accessible to the public. Short-term loading and
unloading space for buses is available on Massachusetts
Avenue in front of Anderson House.
Other Local
Attractions:
Anderson House is
located in area of Washington rich in historical and
cultural attractions. Directly across Massachusetts
Avenue is the Philips Collection, one of Washington's
finest art museums. Within a few blocks visitors can tour
the Textile Museum and the Woodrow Wilson House, as well
as enjoy the restaurants and shops of the lively Dupont
Circle neighborhood
